London's parks and public spaces are being overwhelmed by single-use plastic waste. Every weekend, tonnes of plastic bottles, cups, straws, and packaging are discarded across Hyde Park, Victoria Park, Hampstead Heath, and other beloved green spaces. This plastic waste harms wildlife, pollutes waterways feeding into the Thames, and degrades the beauty that millions of Londoners and tourists enjoy every year. The Mayor of London and the Greater London Authority have the power to act now. We call on them to introduce a total ban on single-use plastics at all events, food vendors, and public gatherings in London's parks and public spaces by 2026. Other major cities including Paris and Amsterdam have already taken this step. It is time London leads the way for the UK.
